WHL Combines

The Western Hockey League, in partnership with Okanagan Hockey have tested more than 7000 players across Western Canada and the United States. The WHL Prospect Combines are designed to assist high level minor hockey players with their skill development, ability assessment, and provide exposure to the WHL by participating in comprehensive on-ice & off-ice testing with state of the art equipment designed by Sport Testing Inc.

Event Details

The WHL Prospect Combine is a two-day event offering testing analysis, skill development and exposure:

DAY 1

On-Ice Testing & Off-Ice Testing

Complete on-ice testing session featuring the same comprehensive tests performed at all WHL Combine testing events, including the Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, WHL Team Testing, Provincial High Performance Camps, WHL U.S. Combine Camp powered by Under Armour, Western Prospects Bantam Showcase and more.

WHL Information Session

The WHL Information Session is hosted by WHL staff, who discuss all you need to know about the WHL. How to get there, what are teams and scouts looking for in an athlete, WHL Scholarship Program, how the draft works etc. An incredible opportunity for parents and athletes to Q&A directly with WHL staff.

Player Development Info Session

Hosted by professional. Learn about the latest player development trends and what you can be doing to take your game to the next level, and reach your highest potential as an athlete. A beneficial opportunity for parents and athletes to Q&A directly with professional player development rep. 

DAY 2

On-Ice Skill & Testing Development Session

Learn and improve on crucial skill sets necessary to execute to your best ability at future testing events and perform at your highest potential in practice and games.

Off-Ice Skill & Testing Development Session

Hosted by a professional athletic trainer. Learn and improve on crucial skill sets necessary to execute to your best ability at future testing events, and perform at your highest potential in off-season training.

ATTENDING A WHL PROSPECT COMBINE PROVIDES…

EXPERIENCE

This is an opportunity to be tested using the same equipment and tests that are utilized at the Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game as well as NHL teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers. This year all four Western Provinces will test their top U15 athletes as part of their High Performance programs, including additional high performance programs and events. The reality is, as a competitive hockey player, eventually you may be in a situation where you will have to perform the combine testing under pressure, and your performance will affect your chances of making the cut. Here’s a opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with each test and experience the testing in a comfortable setting, with constructive feedback!

EXPOSURE

After being tested players are given access to an extensive on-line database with WHL tested athletes. Athletes can compare themselves against other athletes to see where they rank against the best while at the same time using their individual test scores to make adjustments to their own training and skill development programs, which will help them reach their highest level.

The test results for all athletes are entered into the exclusive WHL Database that is used by WHL General Managers and Head Scouts to track and identify athletes for their teams.

GROWTH

Testing Requirements & Fees

30 minute on-ice equipment set up time
• 1 hour ice session per testing group
• Maximum number of skaters per 1hr session = 30 Players
• Club team coaches involved on-ice as testing staff
• Positional players only (goalie only testing is an option)
• Recommend testing more than one team per visit (back to back sessions, combine times)
• Maximize development impact – test during the fall and at the end of season to compare results and see how individual player is progressing
• Fee: $90 per player (based on single team testing – group rates & repeat testing packages available)
