Winterhawks Sign Prospect Nick Perna

Portland Winterhawks

The Portland Winterhawks are pleased to announce the signing of prospect Nick Perna. Perna, who is from Dallas, Texas, is a 16-year old defenseman who was added to Portland’s 50 player Protected List in March of last year.

The 6’2” defenseman currently plays for the Dallas Stars Elite U16 AAA team. In 30 league games, Perna has one goal, eight assists and 36 penalty minutes.

“We listed Nick last year and after an impressive training camp our staff felt he should be a priority signing,” said Portland Winterhawks Vice President, General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston. “With his size and skating ability, Nick will have no problem adjusting to the WHL next season.”

Perna is the teammate of another Winterhawks signed prospect, Cross Hanas.

The Winterhawks are back at home on Wednesday to take on the visiting Vancouver Giants. You can find all Winterhawks ticket information at winterhawks.com/tickets.
