Koehn Ziemmer named AMBHL WHL Prospect Of The Month

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League is proud to announce the AMBHL WHL Prospect of the Month Award, presented to the most outstanding player in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League (AMBHL) each month during the 2017-18 season.

After leading his team to six victories, forward Koehn Ziemmer of the PAC Saints has been named as the award winner for the month of December 2017.

Ziemmer went on an offensive outburst during December, tallying 18 points (11G-7A) over the course of the team’s six games. Presently, Ziemmer sits fourth in the AMBHL scoring race with 36 points (23G-13A) in 23 games. Ziemmer’s 23 goals places him first in goal scoring among all active AMBHL players. He’s scored four game-winning goals and added a pair of short-handed goals.

Over the course of December, Ziemmer’s PAC Saints had a prosperous month, winning all six of their match ups, putting them in first place in the Charger North Division with a 13-8-2 record. Feeding off his team’s success, Ziemmer was able to post points in all six games, while also contributing three separate hat tricks.

One of Ziemmer’s highlights came on Saturday, December 16th when the Saints won 5-4 in dramatic fashion over Edmonton’s SSAC. Ziemmer went on to score a hat trick in the contest, and netted his third goal of the game with two seconds to go, handing the Saints an important victory.

Adding to Ziemmer’s outstanding December success, he was chosen as one of the game three stars on four separate occasions: twice as the first star and twice as the second star. He is currently ranked eighth in the Source for Sports MVP ranking.

With the January schedule set to kick-off, Ziemmer and the PAC Saints will look to continue their seven-game winning streak and keep leading their Charger North Division. The Saints will open the 2018 portion of the schedule Saturday, January 6 against the Camrose Red Wings.
