Hockey Manitoba U-16 POE Spring Camp kicks off in Winnipeg

Winnipeg, MB – The top 80 players from across Manitoba travel to the Dakota Community Centre  in Winnipeg this weekend, April 6 – 9, for the annual Hockey Manitoba POE Spring Camp. The POE (Pursuit of Excellence) is a high performance program that offers developing athletes the opportunity to represent their province at an elite U-16 level while providing a solid development path to the National and International stages.

The event is the first step in the U-16 Program of Excellence, with includes the POE Spring Camp, Top-40 Camp, Prep Camp, and Final Camp, before culminating to play in the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, AB.

Kicking off the weekend, players will participate in a series of comprehensive on-ice and off-ice testing with state of the art equipment designed by Sport Testing Inc. These are designed to assist with skill development, ability assessment and provide exposure to the WHL.

After the combine testing concludes, each team will practice Friday night prior to games beginning Saturday morning.

Each of the four teams consist of two goalies, six defenseman, and twelve forwards.
