Burnaby Winter Club Academy awarded Pat Quinn Classic Bantam Elite trophy


Burnaby, BC – Burnaby Winter Club Bantam Prep team ended the New Year on a high note, claiming the Pat Quinn Elite Bantam Elite Championship over BC rivals Yale Academy in a 2-1 OT thriller.

The Gold Medal game featured a clash of two styles, with Yale registering as the tournaments top offensive team and Burnaby being the tournaments top defensive team. Each team came into the game with undefeated records, with Yale taking the edge with a perfect 6-0 record and BWC posing a 5-0-1 performance. Needless to say, the Gold Medal game was a battle of poise and patience, capitalizing and any available opportunity. In the end, it only took 35 seconds for BWC to close out the overtime period and claim the tournament championship.

The Bantam Elite Tournament All Stars was comprised of five players, featuring Top Goalie – Thomas Milic (BWC Academy), Top Defenseman – Graham Sward (Yale Academy), Top Scorers – Kobe Verbicky (Yale Academy) and Logan Stankoven (Yale Academy), and Tournament MVP – Trevor Wong (St George’s).
